Watershed Warriors

Watershed Warriors follows the Friends of the Fox River (FOTFR) and their decades-long mission to protect and restore the Fox River in Illinois and Wisconsin. Led by River Heroes Gary Swick and Jenni Kempf, FOTFR organizes cleanups that remove tons of trash while also bringing thousands of students into the watershed to learn directly from the river itself. Their work proves that lasting conservation is built on both action and education, where every piece of trash pulled and every lesson taught shapes the future of the river. By telling this story, the film highlights how ordinary people can unite around their local waterways to create extraordinary change. Watershed Warriors reminds us that protecting rivers begins at the community level and that small, consistent efforts ripple outward to inspire global impact.
