The Rivers are Life Foundation

The Rivers are Life Foundation is the nonprofit arm of Rivers are Life. While our creative studio tells the stories that inspire awareness, the Foundation turns that energy into measurable impact through conservation projects, community partnerships, and science-driven solutions.

Our mission is simple: redefine the narrative around rivers and inspire action to protect, preserve, and explore them. By funding and executing projects around the globe, we are creating a healthier future for rivers, air, wildlife, and people.

We know that rivers are the lifeblood of our planet.
When we protect rivers, we also protect:

  • Air - what falls from the sky flows into our waters.

  • Wildlife - habitats along rivers sustain species on land, in water, and in the sky.

  • Science - data and research provide the tools we need for lasting solutions.

How we work

The Rivers are Life Foundation selects projects that:

  • Deliver measurable results for river health and biodiversity.

  • Empower River Heroes and communities leading local solutions.

  • Strengthen education, awareness, and stewardship.

  • Connect to our three core impact areas: education and awareness, water quality and ecosystem health, and solutions to address waste.

Projects come to us through River Heroes, scientific research, community proposals, and open submissions on our website. Each project is reviewed to ensure it aligns with our mission and advances our goal of 1,000 impact projects by 2050.
