Study Aboard

Study Aboard follows college students who trade a typical spring break for a week on the Mississippi River. Spending the week with Chad Pregracke and the Living Lands & Waters crew, these students clean up McKellar Lake, haul trash from riverbanks, and learn firsthand about ecology and river-related careers in their classroom on a barge. Their choice to spend spring break in service instead of leisure shows that conservation can be both purposeful and transformative, shaping not only waterways but also future leaders. By telling this story, the film proves that environmental stewardship isn’t confined to professionals; it can start with students, volunteers, and anyone willing to act. Study Aboard proves how one week of action can ripple outward, turning youthful energy into lasting impact for rivers and communities alike.
