Life Afloat

Life Afloat takes us to Cambodia’s Tonlé Sap Lake, where floating villages face dwindling fish stocks and rising pollution. Home to hundreds of thousands of people and supplying 75% of the nation’s fish, the lake is both a cultural heart and a vital food source. In the film, River Heroes Sarin Rouen and Sophal Sea lead efforts in education, eco-tourism, and sustainability to restore balance and protect this fragile ecosystem. Their work highlights how local action can safeguard both biodiversity and traditions that have endured for generations. By sharing their story, Life Afloat proves that conservation is not just about protecting nature, it’s about protecting livelihoods, culture, and identity. It inspires us to recognize that when rivers and lakes thrive, so do the people who depend on them.
