Volunteers needed for Tittabawassee cleanup during River Days Festival
Rivers are Life, a global network focused on protecting waterways, will sponsor this year’s festival and kick off the event with a river cleanup along the Tittabawassee River on Thursday, July 31. The organization is partnering with local groups for the effort, including the Midland Area Community Foundation, Chippewa Nature Center, Little Forks Conservancy, and the Midland County Historical Society.

Volunteers return to Cedar River for stream sampling
Volunteers with Little Forks Conservancy will soon return to the Cedar River for the biannual stream sampling event on Saturday, May 17. This long-running project uses aquatic macroinvertebrates—animals without a backbone that can be seen with the naked eye—to help assess water quality in the river. Hundreds of college students volunteer to clean up the McKellar Lake shoreline
For the project, 200 students and volunteers from 15 different colleges came to Memphis. Over the next three weeks, hundreds of college students will make their way to Memphis to clean up trash at McKellar Lake downtown.
