Four Film Premiers for Rivers are Life

We are excited to have four films showing at Fresh Coast Film Festival. This festival uses the weekend to highlight environmental documentaries that help raise awareness of the filmmakers in this space and the work they're doing to protect nature.

THE CONSERVATION KID

Meet Cash, “The Conservation Kid,” who is leading cleanups on the Tennessee River in his hometown, Chattanooga. When young Cash learned that 80% of trash in the ocean comes from rivers, he knew he couldn’t wait for someone else to take action. Cash continues to make a significant impact on the river’s health by strategically collecting fishing waste through monofilament containers that he makes and installs along heavily fished river beds. Watch The Conservation Kid

WATERSHED WARRIORS

Travel with us to the Fox River and meet the folks behind the hard work being done to educate the community on the importance of the watershed. Friends of the Fox River (FOTFR), Gary Swick and Jenni Kempf. FOTFR have been working to protect and restore the Fox River for more than 30 years! They organize river cleanup events each year removing tons of trash from the Fox River and its tributaries. Watch Watershed Warriors

WINGS OF THE ODER

This beautiful film introduces you to Piotr Chara, a wildlife photographer who spent his childhood by the Oder River. As he grew up, Piotr witnessed the disappearance of migratory birds and local species through the lens of his camera. Today, he and his family are committed to restoring the eroded wetlands and creating habitats for the birds that rely on them. Watch Wings of the Oder

RIVER OF ANGELS

Most people think of it as a sewer but the L.A. River is just like any other river. This documentary shows you the real story of the river, with the natural sections loaded with fish, ducks, and other wildlife the L.A. River is a vital natural habitat that must be protected and revitalized. Watch River of Angels

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS

  • The Mr. Trash Wheel film was fabulous. It perfectly captured the heart and soul of the porject and Baltimore's love for its harbor. Hundreds of people came out for the premier, including the Baltimore Hons featured in the film, who were dressed to the nines with their beehive hairdos and cateye glasses. Mr. Trash Wheel, the film, has helped us raise thousands of dollars and elevated the profile of our work to restore Baltimore Harbor.
